Charge Amplifier
for High Bandwidth Piezo-electric Sensors/Elements |

Niksar Australia was commissioned to
design a low noise wide-band charge amplifier by one of its customers.
Four channels were required in the unit with settable gains between -20 and
+20 dB with an element capacitance range of 0.1 nF - 24.32 nF. The nominal
bandwidth of the amplifier is 2 MHz. Self-noise was to be kept low and is
specified as 3 uVrms in a 50 kHz bandwidth. This unit was to be used at
various sites for transient signals and therefore had to be amenable
to battery powered operation. The performance specification

| The product was designed assembled and tested at Niksar and met all the
requirements of the customer. It has application for a variety of
applications that use piezoelectric sensing elements or transducers where
wide bandwidth is required. |
