20 MHz Charge Amplifier
for High Bandwidth Low Capacitance
Piezo-electric Sensors/Elements |
Based on an earlier 2 MHz bandwidth model, Niksar Australia
developed and upgraded low noise wide-band charge amplifier for use in
research by one of its customers.
The four channels in the unit have settable gains between -20 and
+20 dB with an element capacitance range of 100 pF - 2.432 nF. The nominal
bandwidth of the amplifier is 20 MHz (-3dB at unity gain). Self-noise was to be kept low and is
specified as 500 μVrms full bandwidth (110 μVrms in 1 MHz). This unit may be used at
various (remote) sites for transient signals since it is amenable
to battery powered operation (12 VDC). The
performance specification
gives more details. |

The product was designed assembled and tested at Niksar and met all the
requirements of the customer. It has application for a variety of
applications that use low capacitance piezoelectric sensing elements or transducers where
wide bandwidth is required. |
